Village Voices is a contemporary community singing group facilitated by Lisa Fox: local musician, music teacher and mother. It is designed to bring women from all walks of life together through music, connection, and shared experience. 

Every woman carries her own story, joys, and challenges. But when we come together to experience the magic of making music, our differences fade, the connections grow, and we speak (sing!) in the same universal language.. music. 

So Lisa, What happens at a Village Voices session?

Honestly? I'm not even sure. I have a vision, I have a voice, and I have a stubborn mind that wont let me keep living my life until I've tested this little idea out! I have led plenty of sing-a-longs in my time, hosted a few pub choirs, and have wrangled audiences young and old, so I have a gut-feeling it will work! And if not, that's ok too, I'm all about trying new things and risking it for the biscuit. I am planning on keeping each session lighthearted, fun, and completely beginner-friendly.

In a Village Voices session, together we will:

Who is this for?

Women. 

Young, old, and everything in between. Mothers with babies in their arms and toddlers at their feet, and mothers whose children have long since left home. Grandmothers, daughters, sisters, aunts, and friends. It’s for the seasoned performer, the shower diva, the harmony lover, the complete beginner. Those who can hold a tune, those who can’t, and everyone in between. Village Voices is for any woman who wants to gather in community, sing contemporary songs, learn simple harmonies, and experience the joy, connection, and wellbeing benefits that come from making music together.

Little Villagers

If you’re coming along with little ones in tow, please know you are absolutely welcome here. I am expecting the morning session will likely have a few babies and toddlers in the mix, and I’m completely happy to roll with whatever that brings... feeds, cuddles, tantrums, nappy blowouts, noise, 1 billion snacks and general chaos. Trust me, I am familiar with CHAOS baby. The whole idea of Village Voices is about creating spaces and experiences for mums to feel included and supported. Kids are also welcome to the evening session, whatever, yolo, just don't tell their teacher (I probably am their teacher) KIDS 16 AND UNDER FREE!
